We made it! Our first Valentineās Day was a massive successā¦ but not for the reasons you may thinkā¦
We finished up on Saturday with sore hands, tired legs and a big sigh š®āšØ the countless hours of designing, ordering, creating, organizing and striving to make this a reality was really hard. Adam and I put everything into our first Vday, the aim was to leave no stone unturned.
Did we have our biggest day since we opened last May? Yes.
Did we sell all of the bunches we made? No.
Did we see many new faces? Yes.
Did we use all Australian grown roses? Yes.
Did we over order our flowers? Heck yes.
Were we left with flowers at the end of the day? Yes.
Selling out on Valentines Day is a florists dream ā¤ļøāš„What we all strive for - to put smiles on the faces of all our customers, while also creating a profitable environment to see us through the winter months of the year.
Unfortunately, we were left with some flowers. Lots of flowers. Literally bucket loads of flowers.
To some this may have felt like a failure. An embarrassment. A massive disappointment.
And yes, I admit it was a hard pill to swallow.
But instead we chose to take this opportunity to give back to some of the people in our community who may not have received the love on Valentineās Day š
On Sunday we created a series beautiful small rose posies & donated them to the Bowral Public Hospital & A Local Buradoo Nursing Home š” Giving some people in our community a little extra thought and care, some of which donāt receive visitors or who may be feeling a world of pain.
It is our hope that we were able to bring a smile to some faces & make someoneās day with a very small act of kindness.
A lot of florists may have been too proud to donate their overspend.
It was heartbreaking in one respect, but we feel so fortunate we were able to move our leftover flowers on, so they didnāt just go straight into the bin or garden.
They were enjoyed. They were admired. They hopefully bought a smile to someoneās face - and thatās what flowers are all about šø
